What time should we arrive for our booking?Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your lane booking to allow time to check-in.

I'm running late... what should I do?Don't panic, just get here safely! We know that these things happen, so you will still be able to start your game once you arrive. On quieter days, we will always try our best to give you the full 90 minutes of play if lanes are available, however on busier days your original game ‘end time’ will remain.

Is the venue covered?Our venue is fully covered in winter (with heaters throughout!). During the summer months, we are an open-air venue with a number of covered courts and fully covered seating areas.

What is pétanque?Pétanque is a traditional French boules game that originated in Provence in the early 20th century. It is a form of boules where the goal is to metal balls (boules) as close as possible to a small wooden target ball called the cochonnet (or jack). Pétanque at Boulebar is not just a sport but a social activity. Your booking will give you 90-minutes on one of our pétanque courts for groups of 2-6. Arrive early or stick around after to enjoy our refreshing craft beer, custom cocktails and tasty Street Food.

How much does it cost to play pétanque?Entry to Boulebar is free and our pétanque lanes are bookable in 90-minute sessions, for just £10 per player.

Do I need to book to play pétanque?All our courts are available to be booked on our website. We will always try to get you on to a free lane but we do recommend booking in advance, particularly during peak times.

Do I need to have a certain group size to make a booking?We recommend groups of 2-6 per lane for the best playing experience but any number of guests are welcome at Boulebar. Larger groups will be placed onto lanes next to each other where possible.

Can I bring my own boules?As much as we'd love to see your boules, you can't bring them to Boulebar.

Can we book for longer than 90 minutes?Of course, you can either book multiple courts during the same time-slot or multiple time-slots for the same court.

Do I need to print my ticket?You'll just need to show your email confirmation for us when you arrive - this can be on your phone.

Do I need to bring the card with me that I booked with?No, just make sure you bring your booking confirmation email on your phone.

Can I pay with cash?We're fully cashless.

How do I get a VAT receipt?Your confirmation email acts as your VAT receipt and details the breakdown and VAT numbers.

Can we eat and play at the same time?It's a yes from us.

Can we bring our own food and drinks?Unfortunately not, only food and drinks purchased at Boulebar can be consumed in our venue unless agreed prior to your visit. Not only are we home to two of London's tastiest street-food vendors, our fantastic bar also has something for everyone. From Siren to Seedlip - we have you covered.

Do I need to play boules to come to Boulebar?No! Entry to Boulebar is free. Our lanes are bookable in 90-minute sessions, however, if you don't fancy a game of pétanque and just want some amazing drinks and tasty street food, that's ok too!

Is the venue covered in winter?Yes! At the end of September our Winter Tent goes up over our venue - covering all of our lanes. Plus we have heaters installed above all seating, and additional heaters next to the lanes.

Do I need to bring ID?From 6pm onwards, we are an over 18's venue, so guests who are lucky enough to look under 25 will be asked to provide a valid photo ID in its original form on arrival as we operate a strict Challenge 25 policy. Acceptable forms of IDs include valid passports, UK driving licenses or any card with the approved PASS logo.

Are dogs allowed?Dogs encouraged! And if you're lucky during your visit you might meet our resident Cockapoo, Nala!

Are children allowed?We welcome children at Boulebar before 6pm as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

How do we get to you by public transport?Our closest station is Waterloo, 3 minutes walk away. You'll find us behind National Theatre, next to a restaurant called Green Room. Our address is 101 Upper Ground, London, SE1 9PP.

Is there a dress code?Dress in whatever you're comfortable in (although clothes are mandatory...).

Is there disabled access?Yes, we are a full accessible venue with street level access and DDA facilities. Please let us know if you, or anyone else in your party, requires assistance during your time at Boulebar. We'll do our best to ensure everyone has the best experience possible.

Do you offer private hire of the entire venue?Yes! Please email your enquiry to bookings@boulebar.co.uk

What are the opening hours?During the winter months, we are open Tues-Fri 3pm-11pm, Sat 11am-11pm.
